Man overcomes vision loss, bikes 3,500 miles across U.S.
For Jeff Bracken, biking is his way of maintaining independence in a world that’s slowly getting harder to see. "I’m not going to give in," Bracken said. "I’m not going to let it make me fold or overwhelm me." Bracken had to surrender his driver's license when he was 24 after he was diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, a condition that causes hearing loss from birth and eventually affects vision. Today, Bracken has no peripheral vision. "It's kind of like, for me right now, looking through two toilet paper rolls," Bracken said.Stitch News
